ALTIPLANO

The altiplano, also known as tierra fria, is a marvelous place for street portraits. The high plains in Perú and Ecuador are up there in a category with Nepal and México as great street photography destinations. Many high Andes Peruvian women dress according to family customs (married or not, etc.). In most other countries you would expect it is done for tourists. Not here, as it is very genuine.

Cuzco, Péru

Indigenous Peruvian women love their hats. This portrait was taken near Cuzco, a favorite location. It was the old Incan capital, having been founded in the 12th century. It also hangs out at 11,000 feet above sea level. From there a trip to Puno on lake Titicaca is a must.

Sometimes people ask me something about myself. That was the case with this man, who wondered where Peruvian travels had taken me. Personal data unavailable.

This lady had few if any takers for the dolls she made. I watched for a 15-20 minutes and no one stopped to chat with her. No personal information is available.
